The United States saw a rapid expansion of women’s rights over the past few decades, beginning in the mid-twentieth century.Could there still be a long way for gender rights to go, however? Over 2017 and 2018, many American women were univocally saying yes.More specifically, gender rights captured national attention again with the birth of the Me Too movement (often written as #metoo, in recognition of the movement’s spread through that social media hashtag), which brought new focus to sexual harassment and forced the fall from public grace, and jobs, of many powerful men in media, entertainment, and politics.This attention followed the massive Women’s March on Washington in 2017.
