If you’re 8 feet away from a door and with each move you advance half the distance to the door.

Riddle: If you’re 8 feet away from a door and with each move you advance half the distance to the door. How many moves will it take to reach the door?

You’re going to get a mathematical answer for this that’s going to get into infinity but heck with that. I have to go somewhere or open the bathroom door I don’t have all day ( or forever).

At eight feet I make a move and I am four feet away. I make a second move and I am two feet away. I make a third move and I am one foot away. On my third move being one foot away, I am reaching out and opening the stupid door. I’ve got places to go, things to do, people to see, women that want me.

For a mathematician it would take forever. For me three moves are close enough to open the door. It’s called close enough. Which answer is more sensible to you?

Answer:  Infinity! Technically you will never reach the door, as you can only move half the distance, no matter how small.
