# I had 5 pesos. My mom gave me 10 pesos.

Math Riddle: I had 5 pesos. My mom gave me 10 pesos. While my dad gave me 30 pesos. My Aunt and Uncle gave me 100 pesos. I had another 5 pesos. How much money did I really have?

Firstly, I want to say correct answer is NOT 150 pesos. I think you sums all the money and find 150 pesos. Let’s look at the correct answer and  explain the step by step.

You need to pay attention to time. In the question, my mom “gave”, my dad “gave” my aunt “gave” and uncle “gave”. So all of this peso in the past.

I had 5 pesos and I had another 5 pesos.  If we sum these 5 pesos, I really have only 10 pesos.

Answer is 10 pesos.

1. I don't get it says:

I don’t get it. Yes, ‘gave’ is past but ‘had’ is also in the past.
I HAD 5 pesos, my mom GAVE me 10 pesos. It’s all in the past so either you don’t have any money now, or you have 150 pesos.

But had is the past tense too so doesn’t that mean she has 0?
