When first read or heard this question does not make any sense since there is no way to the fact that when 50 kings come across with a peach tree with 50 peaches and after each took one, there would be still 49 left.

 

However, the riddle has a pun that is cleverly used in it. Each is the name of one of the kings and he is the only one that took a peach so, it makes sense that there are 49 peaches left after he took one.

The answer is:  Each is the name of one of the kings and he’s the only one that took one!
